Chaperone Volunteer Guidelines for Field Trips

 

Volunteer Requirements - Updated in Alignment with California State Assembly Bill 506.

 

Level I - Classroom & On-Campus Support - Less than 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year, no overnight field trips

Level I volunteers include volunteers in the classroom or other on-campus support. Requirements include:

  • Completion of the Volunteer Application
  • TB Clearance Verification

This level of clearance will allow you to act as a volunteer in classrooms, support campus activities.

 

Level II - General School Volunteer, Non-Paid Coach, Day and Overnight Field Trip Chaperone- More than 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year (No driving)

Level II volunteers include volunteers in the classroom or on other on-campus support and day/overnight field trip chaperone assignments. 

Requirements include:

  • Completion of the Volunteer Application
  • Successful completion of a criminal background clearance through the FBI and Department of Justice requires applicants to be fingerprinted at one of several local Livescan locations. 
  • Completion of Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment Prevention training
  • TB Clearance Verification

This level of clearance will allow you to act as a volunteer in classrooms, support campus activities, and chaperone day/overnight field trips (as a non-driver). Clearance typically takes 5 days.
