Superintendent Ron Costa
Ron has had the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of the Escalon Unified School District since 2010. Prior to serving as Superintendent, Ron served as an Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, Chief Business Official, Director of Secondary Education, Principal, Assistant Principal, and most importantly, as a teacher. During his educational career, Ron has been involved at all levels of the educational system from Transitional Kindergarten through the university level. Ron strongly believes in being proactive – providing students the services to meet their needs instead of providing remediation when students are performing below standard and struggling. This belief is the basis for our district mission statement, “We will insure that all students learn at high levels.”
Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year
Dear EUSD Community,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. And what a year it has started out as with all districts within our county being required to distance learn. Escalon staff has worked hard to ensure the best possible distance learning experience for our students. Teachers will be scheduling daily live interactions with their classes. Elementary classes have a daily schedule where the teacher will meet with students in both whole class and small group instruction throughout the day. Instructional Assistants will be assisting teachers in small group instruction so that instruction can be customized to meet student needs. Secondary classes (6th – 12th grade) will be on a block schedule on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Students will have 3 classes on each of those days so that student-teacher interactions will be able to effectively increase due to longer class periods.
Our dedicated teachers and support staff are continuing to embrace the PLC (Professional Learning Community) culture which empowers the teaching staff to work as teams and collaborate to ensure that our instruction maximizes student learning. While the district is required to offer distance learning, minimum days, meaning slightly shorter student-teacher interaction time, will occur on Wednesdays to allow for teacher collaboration at the end of the school day.
Even through the COVID-19 pandemic, EUSD continues to maintain and modernize our facilities. Through the end of last year and this summer, the district was been working on the following projects:
- Completion of Dent Modernization Phase 1
- Re-roofing of the El Portal gym building
- Re-paving El Portal blacktop play are
- Relocating portable classroom at Collegeville
- Re-carpeting classrooms at sites across the district
- Aerating, sanding and rolling playfields across the district
- Completion of new domestic water well at Van Allen
It is a pleasure and honor to serve the Escalon community as the Superintendent of Escalon Unified School District (EUSD). There are many things that set our district apart from other districts. One of the most important is that our district is fortunate to be in a community who supports our students and our dedicated staff who make student learning a priority.
I am proud of our excellent schools, teachers and staff members and the continued focus put on improving student learning. To keep up on what is happening in our district, please follow us on our Escalon Unified School District Instagram and Facebook page.
